Relatable

Romy and Michelle's Highschool Reunion and Ghost World are two of my favourite movies. I can really relate to them because throughout a large part of my adolescence I was best friends with a girl who was outrageous and funny and together we were a riot, just like these characters. I think we were liked (?), but it didn't matter anyway because together, it was always just us. Looking back, I have fond memories of the time spent as one half of this disruptive duo, most of which entail a great deal of laughter and a couple of lunch time detentions.

I just showered with this guy...

Funny how nature drops in and says hi in the strangest of places. He was licking the moisture off the porcelain and I could see his little pink tongue! So cute. I got a real kick out of that.

Everyone was cooler when they were young

Screw that nail art...

Different cultures push different boundaries in different ways and in parts of Asia, their physical appearance seems to be getting crazier by the minute. If this isn't proof enough, google 'Harajuku'. But it's really interesting. What an impractical thing to do right? So why do it? What is the point? I don't get it. Ten points for creativity I guess.

A Closer Look at Joseph Cornell

In 'taking a closer look', as I mentioned below, I discovered that Zizi Jeanmaire was a ballet dancer who became famous in the fifties for her role in the ballet Carmen. I then did some further investigation and thanks to the wonderful world of Wikipedia discovered that Joseph Cornell was obsessed with her. Who is Joseph Cornell? Maybe you know, maybe you don't. I didn't. He was an American artist and sculpter whose work happens to be brilliant and interesting. I would so love to see it real life though.

Where do you go to my lovely?

This song by Peter Starsted has got to be one of my favourite songs of all time. Yes, I realise it is very old and very different to what is considered popular today, but if you have a good listen to the lyrics, you'll surely realise why I love it to pieces. My dad always tells me to take a closer look at things and keep asking questions because it is the greatest way to learn. And he is so true. After listening to this song more carefully, and investigating the meaning behind the words (Zizi Jeanmaire, Juan-les-Pins, St Moritz, Sorbonne etc), I learnt so much and gained such an insight into the character he is painting, which obviously helps in understanding the said character's story, which is quite a lovely one. I find great satisfaction when the seemingly smallest thing (a song) teaches you so much. It brings a giant smile to my face and some knowledge to my mind.

Interesting...

I really like this image, not necessarily because I like the outfit, but because there are so many different things to look at, and it is unique in comparison to the abundance of images of 'stylish people on the street' that seem to flood the internet!
